The perfect shade of blue

I love blue! Blue makes me happy. I am always on the search for the perfect shade. Sometimes I find it and sometimes I don't. I love this blue! The hutch came from the same friend as the tea table. It was her moms and had been sitting in her garage for over 20 years untouched. She was so excited to get rid of it. I thought I had won the lottery! It was a 70's greenish yellow color when I got it. Very far from blue. But I dry brushed it with the leftover paint from my kitchen walls. It turned out better than I imagined it. It is the perfect shade and really brightens up the corner of the room. I especially love that it came with the original handle and key. I am a true sucker for the little details.

Dear to my Heart......

My dining room table is very dear to my heart. It's story began in Idaho right after a horrible flood in '78. The owners were the most amazing and now angelic people I have ever known. This table signifies love. There were many home cooked meals shared around it with numerous games played on it. If you could imagine the deepest conversations to the lightest they were shared here. There were family, friends new and old, strangers, missionaries, kids and grown-ups that all benefited from the love shared at it. I feel very privileged to have this table in my own house for many more memories to be built around. It belonged to my Grandma and Grandpa P. When I received it, it was a beautiful brown wood. As a child I rarely ever saw the top of the table and was only familiar with the beautiful turned legs. My Grandmother took very good care of it and always always had a drop cloth on so it wouldn't get scratched. It was in impeccable shape when I got it. It now houses new memories along with scratches from Legos and writing from homework. I don't have the heart to cover it up because it means so much to me. I was very pregnant when I redid this table which made the process painstakingly hard. It also made it even more precious to me. Everytime I stare at it, it brings back many wonderful memories.

Tea table

This little tea table was given to me by a dear friend. She is also the dear friend that gave me my blue hutch. When I got this table it was in bad shape. It had sat under a house for 20+ years. It was covered in mouse/rat feces, urine, and mud. It was pretty gross. After I cleaned it up it was a lovely yellowish green early 70's color. It had adorable wheels on it but only had 3 so unfortunately I had to rip them off. You should know that I love love love wheels on any piece of furniture. Maybe someday I'll put wheels back on it, but for now it is the perfect height next to the chair. I love how the white pops next to the brown chair and lampshade. And it has the perfect shelf for Miss B's toys. Simply perfect!

This cute little tray sat on the bottom shelf of the tea cart. After I painted it I decided that it would be safest up on the bookshelf rather in harms way down on the tea cart. I love it underneath the candles. It has the perfect cottage look.

Mothers Day

I decided that I needed a change in my kitchen. I wanted something small, old, shabby, and of course something I could redo. When I found this table and chair set on Craigslist I fell in love and had to have them. I convinced Mr. A that it would be the perfect Mothers Day gift. So off he went to get it. I think every piece must have a story. I didn't see this tables before life but from what Mr. A said it was living in a really nice, hippie ladies, cat infested house. I'm glad I could give it a new home. I love how it turned out. It is so cheery in the kitchen. It makes me smile.

Miss B's room

What fun it is to have a little girl and get to make a true very girly shabby room. I picked up this hutch which is one of my very favorite pieces I've done. I just love it. I painted it a bright white and replaced the old wood knobs with adorable little glass ones. Something inside me tells me that the cute little old lady I bought this from would have a coronary if she knew I painted her "wood". This adorable little hutch takes place of a dresser. The silverware cubbies in the drawer are perfect for her hair bows, socks, and girly accessories.


This little gem was quite the find. I had something different in mind but when I came across this I had to have it. When I got it, the wood was beaten up and so faded. The handles were those nasty dented hanging brass things that you pinch your fingers in. I'm sure they were original to the dresser but the original glass knob is a treasure. I painted it a very soft blue and put new handles on it. I loved the casters so I kept them the same. We store all the "extra" stuff from my room in this dresser. (you know all those wires from ipods, cameras, zunes, etc) It turned out to be the perfect little addition to B's room.

A new blog......

I have been tinkering around with redoing furniture for awhile and now I am totally obsessed with it. My favorite day would consist of searching out the "just right" thing from Craigslist because we all know the search is most of the fun. Then dreaming of how I'm going to work my magic and do it. The best part..... sitting back admiring my beautiful hard work and basking in the fun now that it's redone. (thus the name)
I've done many things in my house and think that I want to expand. So here I am first showing you all the things I've already done. (some items I don't have before pics) But I'm starting this blog with the intent to update it with new projects that I have redone and am ready to sell. I don't have anything to sale just yet but I am working on a few projects. I also have a healthy obsession with Craigslist. Please keep checking back for updates. I would love to hear what you think about my projects as well as suggestions for future ones.
